After winning the toss skipper Drage again decided to bat first.

Simon Morgan and Ben Griffin opened the batting with the simple instruction ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK from the get go. Unfortunately
things didn’t quite go to plan as both lost their wickets cheaply.
Jake and Paul Johnstone however took it to the opposition as both
were firing on all cylinders. Jake 22 and Paul retired on 25 put some
quick runs on the board. James Beaven, Tim, Simon H and Will Morgan
added a few more while International was retired on 25 before the
unlucky (I never got a duck during the whole of last season Phil
Morris collected a first ball duck, from the last ball of our innings.
Still we had posted around 130 from our 15 overs, so we had something
to defend, but would it be enough?.

Tim opened the bowling from the top end but it was Will Morgan who
struck first from the other end and finished with two wickets from his
two overs. James, Andy Hawkins and Simon Morgan all had a go, but
with little success and T.N.C were well on target with their runs on the board. Time for the man of the hour to step up. Simon Hawkins was
on fire as he totally tied up the opposition and took three wickets from his two overs. Backed up by a couple of tight overs from Ben Griffin this was now going to be a very close game. Paul Johnstone bowled a great 14th over and took a wicket with his last delivery (I think he was actually retired out – ed).

This left Simon Morgan to bowl the last over of the game and 10 runs to defend. Thing’s didn’t look too good as his first delivery was a wide (2 runs and the extra ball). A few singles and a two and T.N.C only needed 4 runs with 4 balls to come. Simon then bowled 3 dot balls on the bounce and It all came down to the final ball of the game. A 6 or a 4 and they win, a 3 and the game is drawn, a single or a 2 and we win. The suspense was killing me, ha ha. Simon ran in and bowled the ball, the batsman swung, but missed, Phil gathered it up and Barford won by 3 runs. Another great all round team performance and another victory under our belts, though I hope It’s not this close next week,
as my nerves cannot take it, lol. Well played guys.

Well that’s how I remember how things happened.

Cheers.

Simon International.
