From the Secretary:

With the end of the season fast approaching, our thoughts are already turning to next year and a couple of changes that will take place on the club’s committee.

Ben has decided to stand down as Captain in order to spend time with his family, and I have decided to stand down as Secretary in order to spend more time with myself. Consequently, we are looking for a couple of volunteers to fill these roles.

For the Captain’s role we need someone who can play fairly regularly, lead the team and, most importantly, uphold the values of the club. If you are interested in giving it a shot please let me know. Also, if you’d like to have a go at captaincy but can’t or don’t want to commit to the top job then also get in touch – we are very willing to shuffle the vice captaincy and midweek captain positions around to accommodate people who want to give it a try.

The Secretary’s role is to look after the admin of the club. This includes producing an agenda and minutes for committee meetings (of which there are currently four a year, plus the AGM, all held in the Joey), ordering any equipment that we need, maintaining our relationship with Snitterfield and general communication with the club and others. It’s not a big commitment – at most it involves a few hours work a month (You might have noticed that I spend a lot of time packing and dragging kit around – that is not part of the role and will hopefully be shared round a bit more equally from next year).

The club can only exist if some people are prepared to invest a little time in helping to run it, so please have a think about it and let me know if you are prepared to give it a go. The AGM is on Wednesday 21st October.
